State of Michigan Concussion LawEffective 7/1/13
Effective July 1, 2013 every Manager, Coach, Official and League Official must become certified as having taken Concussion Awareness training in all youth sports in the state of Michigan, There are two tutorials on the web site referenced at the end of this section, one for youth sports and one for school sports. Taking either one will satisfy our requirement, however if you have coaches managers officials involved in school sports they must take the school sports tutorial.
This tutorial will take about 20-30 minutes and at the end of the tutorial their will be an exam. The individual must pass the exam to be certified. A certificate will appear upon completion of the tutorial and test which then can be printed and carried with the individuals. This tutorial and test is only required once and the certificate applies to all youth sports activities.
*******The law also mandates that concussion information be carried by each team for the coaches and managers. The law also mandates that concussion information be given to every parent or guardian for each participating youth athlete. The law also requires that each participant and their parent or guardian sign that they have received the information and return the signed form to each organization
